Sydenham Terminal Station

PROJECT: Sydenham Terminal Station

CLIENT: AusNet Services

LOCATION: Victoria

YEAR(S): 2023-2025

SCOPE: To design, manufacture and deliver 550kV Arteche Current Transformers

BACKGROUND: Sydenham Terminal Station is a major high-voltage node in Victoria’s transmission network, located in Melbourne’s outer west. It plays a critical role in AusNet Services Western Renewables Link (WRL) project, which aims to relieve grid congestion and unlock large-scale renewable generation in Western Victoria. The WRL involves constructing a new 500kV transmission line from Sydenham to Bulgana, along with significant upgrades to Sydenham Terminal Station, including expansion works and installation of advanced 500kV equipment.

As part of these upgrades, GFF Power/Arteche were contracted to supply 550kV Arteche Current Transformers (CTs) designed for high-voltage applications and compliant with AusNet Services technical standards. The scope also included engineering support structures for CT installation, with fabrication and galvanisation meeting Australian standards (AS1554.1 and AS4680).

SERVICES PROVIDED:

  • Design, manufacture and supply of Arteche current transformers.
  • Ongoing project management, including provision of regular updates relating to anticipated delivery timeline.
  • Complete logistical assistance covering international freight, port clearance and delivery to site, including unloading.
  • Technical support as required by AusNet Services throughout the project.

OUTCOMES:
All equipment was manufactured to AusNet Services specifications, produced in-line with the agreed schedule, and safely delivered to site per the project required timelines.
