PROJECT: Mortlake Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
CLIENT: AusNet
LOCATION: Victoria
YEAR(S): 2024-2026
SCOPE: To design, manufacture and deliver 500kV Arteche Capacitive Voltage Transformers with integrated Power Quality Monitors, 500kV Current Transformers with Marshalling Boxes & Steel Support Structures
BACKGROUND:
Origin Energy’s Mortlake Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is a 300MW/650MH/H renewable infrastructure project located adjacent to the Mortlake Power Station in Victoria’s Moyne Shire. It plays a pivotal role in Victoria’s South-West Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), enabling greater integration of wind and solar energy into the National Electricity Market.
AusNet’s scope includes the construction of critical transmission infrastructure: a 500kV switchyard extension, new transformer compound, and harmonic filter system. To support this, GFF Power/Arteche were contracted to supply 500kV Current Transformers (CTs) and 500kV Capacitive Voltage Transformers (CVTs) with PQ sensors, along with marshalling boxes and support structures.
SERVICES PROVIDED:
- Design, manufacture and supply of Arteche capacitive voltage transformers with integrated power quality monitors, current transformers with marshalling boxes and steel support structures.
- Ongoing project management, including provision of regular updates relating to anticipated delivery timeline.
- Complete logistical assistance covering international freight, port clearance and delivery to site, including unloading.
- Technical support as required by AusNet throughout the project.
OUTCOMES:
All equipment was manufactured to AusNet’s specifications, produced in-line with the agreed schedule, and safely delivered to site per the project required timelines.
