PROJECT: Collie Battery
CLIENT: Western Power
LOCATION: Western Australia
YEAR(S): 2023
SCOPE: To design, manufacture and deliver 330kV Arteche instrument transformers
BACKGROUND:
Collie Battery is Neoen’s first 4-hour long duration battery & its first major project in Western Australia. The project has development approval for 1 GW / 4 GWh.
Collie Battery is currently being built in stages, two of which are currently under construction:
- Stage 1 is sized at 219 MW / 877 MWh
- Stage 2 is sized at 341 MW / 1,363 MWh
Once operational, Collie Battery will be able to provide short duration storage in peak times to ease pressure on the grid. It will have the ability to charge and discharge 20% of the average demand in Western Australia’s South-West Interconnected System (SWIS).
As a long-standing supplier to Western Power, GFF Power/Arteche were chosen to provide all the 330kV current transformers and capacitive voltage transformers needed for the construction of the required 330kV substation.
SERVICES PROVIDED
- Design, manufacture and supply of Arteche current transformers, voltage transformers and
power voltage transformers. - Ongoing project management, including provision of regular updates relating to anticipated
delivery timeline. - Complete logistical assistance covering international freight, port clearance and delivery to
site, including unloading. - Technical support as required by Western Power throughout the project.
OUTCOMES
All equipment was manufactured to Western Power’s specifications, produced in-line with the agreed schedule, and safely delivered to site per the project required timelines.
